Yes, First Aid Pro Australia (31124) is a fully accredited Registered Training Organisation, ensuring all our courses meet national training standards and our certificates are nationally recognised across Australia. Our RTO status means you can be confident in the quality and validity of your certification.
Each course builds upon the previous one and is designed for different needs:
HLTAID009 (CPR) is the foundation course focusing solely on cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills. You’ll learn how to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants, use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and manage choking emergencies. This course is ideal for those who only need basic life support skills or want to refresh their CPR knowledge.
HLTAID011 (First Aid) includes everything from HLTAID009 plus comprehensive first aid skills. You’ll learn wound care and bandaging, managing fractures and sprains, treating burns, recognizing heart attacks and strokes, spinal injury management, shock treatment, and emergency action planning. This is the standard workplace first aid qualification most employers require.
HLTAID012 (Childcare First Aid) covers all HLTAID011 content but with specialized focus on children and education settings. Additional topics include pediatric emergency management, understanding developmental considerations in emergency response, managing childhood allergies and anaphylaxis, asthma management in children, infection control in education environments, and legal requirements specific to duty of care in childcare settings.
Which course do you need? Choose HLTAID009 for basic CPR skills, HLTAID011 for general workplace or personal first aid requirements, or HLTAID012 if you work in childcare, schools, or any education and care setting with children.
The validity periods vary depending on the specific course:
HLTAID009 (CPR) – Valid for 12 months. CPR skills require annual refresher training because resuscitation techniques evolve regularly and muscle memory for proper compression depth and rate needs frequent reinforcement to maintain life-saving effectiveness.
HLTAID011 (First Aid) – Valid for 36 months. This broader first aid qualification covers more stable skills like wound care and emergency response procedures, though we recommend annual CPR refreshers (HLTAID009) to maintain optimal readiness.
HLTAID012 (Childcare First Aid) – Valid for 36 months. While the certificate is valid for three years, many education and care services require annual CPR updates for staff working with children, and some regulatory bodies may have additional refresher requirements.
These validity periods align with Australian Resuscitation Council recommendations and national training standards. We’ll send you renewal reminders before your certification expires to help you stay current with your first aid qualifications.
